Inside Line Promotions – CANEY, Kan. (Oct. 22, 2017) – Frank Flud and Daison Pursley were dominant on Sunday evening during the Driven Midwest Cup at Caney Valley Speedway, where both drivers also wrapped up Driven Midwest USAC NOW600 National Micro Series presented by MyRacePass championships during the final event of the season.
The season finale showcased a trio of main events in each class with the driver scoring the lowest combined total points capturing the event championship.
Flud swept all three Stock Non-Wing main events, which earned him a $2,000 bonus in addition to his $1,000 in winnings. Not only did he claim the Driven Midwest Cup, he finished the season with a division-best 11 victories en route to his first series championship.
Flud also picked up two of the three Winged ‘A’ Class main events to score the Driven Midwest Cup title. Flud’s 11 triumphs in the division led him to the championship in that class as well.
Pursley garnered two of the three Restricted ‘A’ Class main events to record the Driven Midwest Cup win. The strong finish to the season helped propel him to his second straight championship in the division thanks to six total wins.
Holley Hollan was the other Winged ‘A’ Class winner and Ryan Timms produced his first career Restricted ‘A’ Class victory on Sunday.
While Flud swept the Stock Non-Wing main events, a lot of different drivers finished in the top five during the trio of A Mains. Kinzer Edwards, Hollan, Dave Nicholson and Ryan Truitt rounded out the top five, respectively, in the first main event.
Cory Green, Avery Goodman, Hank Davis and Hollan placed second through fifth, respectively, in the second A Main while Green, Davis, Goodman and Blake Battles garnered top fives in the final main event.
Flud won the first Winged ‘A’ Class main event with Gage Laney, Davis, Nathan Rainey and Goodman the top five, respectively.
Hollan claimed the second A Main as Pursley, Kris Carroll, Flud and Goodman were the rest of the top five, respectively. Flud capped the night with the win in the final main event and he was followed by Davis, Carroll, Hollan and Pursley.
Timms earned a win during the first Restricted ‘A’ Class main event with Kale Drake, Dooley Harris, Ryder Laplante and Pursley netting top fives, respectively.
The top five remained the same in the final two A Mains with Pursley winning both ahead of Laplante, who led the division with eight victories this season. Harris, Timms and Drake rounded out the top five in the second A Main while Timms, Harris and Drake placed third through fifth, respectively, in the final feature.
