Inside Line Promotions – CANEY, Kan. (Oct. 21, 2017) – The Driven Midwest USAC NOW600 National Micro Series presented by MyRacePass division leaders in the victory column continued their dominance on Saturday afternoon during Round 2 of the Driven Midwest Cup at Caney Valley Speedway.
Frank Flud won his series-leading eighth Stock Non-Wing event and his series-best ninth Winged ‘A’ Class triumph and Ryder Laplante produced his series-leading ninth Restricted ‘A’ Class victory during Pink Out Night, which raised awareness for breast cancer.
Flud maneuvered from fifth to win a Stock Non-Wing heat race to advance into the feature redraw. He then garnered the pole position and didn’t look back during the 15-lap main event. Hank Davis finished second with Avery Goodman, who also won a heat race, ending third. Kinzer Edwards was fourth and Blake Battles charged from 10th to fifth place.
Flud also won a Winged ‘A’ Class heat race to make the feature redraw. However, this time he had to drive from fourth into the lead during the 20-lap A Main. The victory was his second straight this weekend. Gage Laney placed second with Davis, who also captured a heat race win, third. Riley Goodno ended fourth and Emerson Axsom rounded out the top five.
Laplante garnered his third Restricted ‘A’ Class triumph in the last four races and his second of the weekend after starting on the outside of the front row. Kale Drake, who recorded the lone heat race win, finished in the runner-up position with Goodno third, championship points leader Daison Pursley fourth and Ryan Timms fifth.
The Driven Midwest Cup finale is on Sunday. Each class will showcase three A Mains to determine the event champion. If a driver in Stock Non-Wing or Winged ‘A’ Class wins all three Cup main events he or she will receive a $2,000 bonus and any driver who wins all three Restricted ‘A’ Class Cup main events will be given a $1,000 bonus.
The gates are slated to open at noon with racing at 3 p.m.
