The Scott Thiel Motorsports #64 Sprintcar team headed out to the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds on Saturday night for the third night of racing at the Plymouth Dirt Track. Scotty picked a 2 pill which set him to start the heat race on the pole. Thiel led 9 out of 10 laps until he hit the berm on the inside of the track trying to set up to pass a lap car. Scotty bounced up the track and the second place car just got past him for the finish. That second place finish would place Scotty outside the third row for the A-Main event. At the start of the A-main, Scotty was making the top side of the track work and passed a few cars. Several restarts forced Scotty to start on the inside row and it took a few laps to get back up to the top side of the track and he lost a few positions doing so. Scotty still managed to work his way back up and round out the night with a solid top 10, 7th place finish.
The team worked all night long and prepared the car for Sunday nights racing action at the Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, WI. This was a 410 event show, but the track usually dried out enough for the 360's to run somewhat competitively. 28 cars showed up in the pits and Scotty knew that he would have to work really hard to make it into the A-main, especially starting 7th in the heat race. The track was really tacky in the heats and the guys with 410 walked away. Scotty rounded out finishing 7th and would have to run the B-Main. After starting 7th in the B, Scotty quickly got up to the 5th position and with the help of a few cautions, he drove really hard and passed for the 4th position, which was the final transfer spot to the night's A-main. The STM guys were extremely excited that Scotty made the A-Main against the 410 guys and started to prepare the car for the A. Scotty started 20th and passed a few cars early in the race. With a few laps in, a car started flipping in turn three, everyone moved up high to avoid the wreck, and Scotty got hit by another car which wrecked the left rear wheel and tire. Luckly, the work area was right where Scotty had stopped, and the guys quickly changed the tire. After restarting in the back again, Scotty made way around cars and rounded out the night with a 12th place finish. After working extremely hard all night to prepare the car, driving hard to make it in the A-Main, Scotty and the STM team were VERY please with the finish, especially since it was a 410 show.
