Inside Line Promotions – HURON, Ohio (Oct. 4, 2017) – Kevin Mingus would like to welcome Jensen Towing of Greenwich, Ohio, to his new 305ci sprint car team.

Mingus competed the past two years with the Kurt and Martha Huber owned 305ci sprint team on dirt tracks in Ohio. When the Hubers announced they were scaling back their racing next year, Mingus and his family put a plan together to purchase the team and run it themselves in 2018.

“Kurt and Martha are like grandparents to me and I can’t thank them enough for believing in me and supporting me,” Mingus said. “Now my family is going to take over running the team and I couldn’t be more excited.”

Besides owning the team, Mingus recently got married and his new wife, Marissa, is listed as the team owner.

“Marissa has dove into this sport head first,” he said. “She’s already working on t-shirts and hats and getting our social media up and running. My dad is back as the crew chief and he’s excited to get going on the cars. It will fun doing this as a family again.”

As plans are being made for 2018, that family atmosphere is already taking shape as Mingus has added a new sponsor in Jensen Towing.

“John and Kim Jensen are my wife’s uncle and aunt,” he said. “About seven or eight years ago they actually helped my sister out when she put her car in a ditch. I’m so thankful they are helping us out and I want to help spread the word about their business as well.”

Getting involved in racing is a new venture for Jensen Towing.

“We’re excited to get to learn the sport and support Marissa and Kevin,” Kim Jensen said. “We look forward to meeting all the teams and fans.”

Mingus said the new team is busy making room in the shop for the car.

“We are keeping the car we ran this past year,” he said. “We are very comfortable with that car. We blew a head gasket late in the year and the motor was sent back to Griff’s for Caleb and Gary to look over. Griff’s has been with us since 2009. We’re working on getting more of the financial pieces in place and are actively looking for more marketing partners.”

Mingus noted that the team plans to compete weekly at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, and at Fremont Speedway in Fremont, Ohio, as well as with the JLH General Contractor FAST 305 Championship Series in 2018.

“Our sponsors will get exposure to thousands of area race fans each week,” he said. “Race fans are very loyal to businesses that support racing and we will work hard to make them all proud.”
