Lonnie Wheatley, NIXA, Mo. (September 28, 2017) – With the latest Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial at Lucas Oil Speedway in the books, Kyle Bellm and the Resource Asset Management Solutions (RAMS) No. 14k Sprint Car team look to finish out the season with a pair of big events.
Next on the docket for Bellm and the PPG Automotive Finishes/Colorvision team is I-30 Speedway’s prestigious 30th Annual COMP Cams Short Track Nationals presented by Hoosier Tires in Little Rock, AR, on October 12-14.
From there, Bellm and the Kannady Racing Engines/Heidbreder Foundation Service team will finish out the year in Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour action with Creek County Speedway’s Fall Fling near Tulsa, OK, on October 27-28.
While Bellm and the VP Racing Fuels/Schure Built Suspensions crew have just a pair of remaining race weekends on the slate, Bellm is open to other possibilities as well. “We’re going to focus on these two final weekends for the RAMS No. 14k Sprint Car,” Bellm explains. “If any opportunities arise to race elsewhere, it’s something we would certainly consider.”
Bellm comes off a Hockett/McMillin Memorial weekend aboard the Christian County Collision Repair/Bybee Lawn Care that left the team hoping for more.
“It was a disappointing weekend,” Bellm sums up. “We had a good car again, but we just needed to catch a few breaks.”
Bellm started the weekend off by advancing from sixth to third in his Thursday heat race. Then, after an untimely caution wiped out a nifty move from fourth to the lead on the opening lap of Thursday’s qualifier, Bellm still posted a solid 12-place finish among Thursday night’s field of 55 competitors.
“We had the great start in the qualifier and then the caution came out,” Bellm relates after recording a fourth-place run in the qualifier. “After that, the holes that were open before weren’t there anymore.”
Bellm then gained a position in Friday’s heat race action only to get shuffled back from his fourth starting position in qualifying race action. “We got knocked out of the way in that one, and that pretty much did our night in,” Bellm explains.
Another untimely caution in Saturday “B” Main action proved too much to overcome. “We got to third on the first lap and then another caution came out,” Bellm says. From there, Bellm gained one position from his sixth starting position as only three moved on.
Bellm’s Lucas Oil Speedway weekend efforts were bolstered by a pair of new marketing partners including Greenworks Nursery and Landscapes Awarded, both of Highlandville, MO, joining on as primary sponsors for the event. Information regarding Greenworks Nursery is available at http://www.greenworksnursery.com/ with information pertaining to Landscapes Awarded at http://www.landscapesawarded.com/.
Bellm looks for the breaks to fall his way when the RAMS No. 14k Sprint Car returns to action at Little Rock’s I-30 Speedway for Short Track Nationals action on October 12-14.
