Inside Line Promotions – ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. (Sept. 25, 2017) – Big Game Motorsports posted a pair of top-10 finishes last weekend in Central Pennsylvania.
The action began on Friday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, where driver Kerry Madsen qualified ninth quickest and placed third in a heat race. That missed a spot in the dash by only one position and lined the Muddy sponsored team up in the ninth starting position for the A Main.
“It was an ok night,” he said. “We got some laps, which is important. I think it showed us we need to get a little better at that track. We left there with a good direction.”
Madsen battled inside the top 10 throughout the race before ending eighth.
The weekend concluded on Saturday at Lincoln Speedway for the Dirt Classic.
“We didn’t get a very good number for qualifying, but that doesn’t usually bother us,” he said. “When you get a bad draw and don’t put down a good lap that usually leads to a bad time.”
Madsen qualified 24th quickest. He maneuvered from fifth to second place in his first heat race and from third to win his second heat race. That lined the Muddy backed team up 12th for the A Main.
“We were really good in the A Main, but on the start and every restart I didn’t gain any spots,” he said. “I had to race really hard. We did have a fast race car and probably better than a ninth-place car.”
Madsen finished ninth, which was his 44th top 10 of the season.
The Muddy sponsored team will return to action at Williams Grove Speedway this Thursday through Saturday for the National Open with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.
“I think it’s important that we got a race in there,” Madsen said. “It’s such a unique track that it was good to go there so we can get on the same page. The locals race there a lot so they have a lot of experience, which gives them an advantage. The uniqueness of the track and the level of the competition makes it such a challenge.”
