Inside Line Promotions – JEFFERSON, S.D. (Sept. 19, 2017) – Jack Dover produced a pair of runner-up results last weekend at Park Jefferson International Speedway during a 305ci winged sprint car doubleheader.

“We wanted to win both shows, but finishing two features is a win for us the way our year has been,” he said.

The action began on Friday when Dover advanced from second to win a heat race. That earned a spot in the feature redraw, in which he pulled the highest number – 12 – to start the main event on the outside of the sixth row.

“The track was rubber down and we were fortunate to get to second,” he said. “I set my car up super tight and had to drive out of the rubber to pass because everyone was staying in the rubber. That’s not bad to go from 12th to second considering we only had a 15-lap feature.”

And on top of that the race was cut a lap short.

“On the white flag we were coming out of turn three to the checkered,” he said. “They threw the yellow so it should have been a green-white-checkered finish. They decided to call the race so we didn’t get to finish.”

Dover returned to the oval on Saturday and again won a heat race after starting on the outside of the front row. This time he drew the No. 4 during the random feature redraw to start fourth.

“We got up to first about two laps in and had a pretty good lead,” he said. “A yellow came out with three laps to go. My crew guy gave me the sign we normally have. I misread it and didn’t protect the line I should have. I got passed on the restart and the track was rubbered down so I didn’t have an opportunity to get back by.”

Dover’s second-place finish was his 15th podium of the season.

Dover will return to action this Thursday through Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo., where he will drive for Chris Bowers during the 7th annual Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

“The goal is to make the A Main on Saturday,” he said. “There’s a lot of good cars and it’s a big race so that’s our goal right now. Anything after that is a bonus.”
