Inside Line Promotions – CANEY, Kan. (Sept. 16, 2017) – Jeffrey Newell captured a pair of Driven Midwest USAC NOW600 National Micro Series presented by MyRacePass feature victories and Ryder Laplante earned his series-best sixth triumph of the season on Saturday night during the season debut at Caney Valley Speedway.
Newell won a Stock Non-Wing heat race to advance into the feature redraw, in which he pulled the No. 2 to start the $500-to-win main event on the outside of the front row. He took advantage of the great starting position by driving to his second career NOW600 Stock Non-Wing win and first of the season.
Fellow heat race winner Hank Davis finished second with Avery Goodman ending third, 11th-starting Ryan Truitt fourth and Blake Battles fifth.
Newell also capitalized on terrific starting position in the Winged ‘A’ Class main event as he won his second race of the season with the series after starting on the pole. Davis powered from seventh to second place with Battles, Ryan Mushrush, who won the lone heat race, and Daison Pursley rounding out the top five, respectively.
Laplante was also victorious after garnering the pole position for the Restricted ‘A’ Class main event. The win was his sixth of the season and seventh career – both lead the series.
Ryan Timms earned a runner-up result with Pursley, who is the points leader, placing third. Aidan Silva ended fourth and Kale Drake was fifth.
Laplante was the lone heat race winner.
The Driven Midwest USAC NOW600 National Micro Series presented by MyRacePass will return to competition on Oct. 14-15 at Red Dirt Raceway in Meeker, Okla., for the inaugural Meeker 500.
