Indianapolis, IN (September 17, 2017) - The finale of the POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprint League's season has come; a three-day event weekend at the "Diamond of Dirt Tracks" Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri taking place September 21-23 is sure to produce thrilling victories, drama, and the crowning of a new WAR Champion.
Korey Weyant has held a comfortable point lead for the entire season, but with his three DNF's in the last four WAR races, Chris Parkinson (2nd) and Wyatt Burks (3rd) have gained exceptional ground on him. Rookie of the Year contender Quinton Benson sits fourth in points and Warren Johnson is fifth.
In 2016, 46 different drivers took part in WAR competition for the three-day event with Terry Babb earning the check and bragging rights Saturday night after a thrilling main event jam packed with sliders and side-by-side racing action.
The same format utilized in 2016 at the Hockett/McMillin Memorial will be in effect this year. All drivers will pill draw and compete in the standard WAR format on both Thursday and Friday night as combined points (see points breakdown below) from finishing positions in the Heat Races, A-Mains and B-Mains from both nights will lock in the Top 6 in points. Any tie in points will be broken by Friday’s passing point totals. The Top 6 will redraw for their starting position in Saturday night's A-Main event. The remainder of the field will pill draw for a standard WAR format of racing Saturday to compete for the 16 spots still available in the starting field. A total 22 cars will start in Saturday night's WAR A-Main event.
