Inside Line Promotions – CHICO, Calif. (Sept. 11, 2017) – Giovanni Scelzi is heading to the Midwest this weekend for a doubleheader with the IRA Sprint Car Series.
Scelzi will drive for BDS Motorsports on Friday at Clay County Speedway in Spencer, Iowa, and on Saturday at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn.
“I haven’t run a 410 in Bryan Sundby’s car yet so this is exciting,” he said. “His motors have always been powerful at Knoxville and we’ve run up front every night so we have a lot of confidence.”
Scelzi has one win, three podiums and four top fives in five 360ci winged sprint car starts with BDS Motorsports.
He is coming off an outing with Roth Motorsports last Wednesday at Silver Dollar Speedway, where he qualified 10th quickest out of 44 competitors to open the Civil War Sprint Car Series show.
That lined him up on the outside of the front row for a heat race.
“I felt really good,” he said. “The track conditions were good. It was racy and you could go anywhere you needed. We were three or four car lengths behind the leader running second when we had a mechanical problem.”
Scelzi was unable to finish the heat race or the night at the track.
