Montieth Finishes 2nd after an Electrifying Drive
By Gary Costa
Mechanicsburg, PA - Abottstown, PA - (May 13-15, 2010) --- After suffering two tough nights of competition with the World of Outlaws at the Williams Grove Speedway, Brian Montieth would rebound in exciting fashion after turning in a stirring drive from his starting 21st spot. It was a drive that would leave the great fans of Pennsylvania yearning for more.
Brian’s evening at Lincoln Speedway started with “The Edge” missing the transfer spot into the 25-lap feature event, after suffering a flat right-rear tire during his heat race. While this was bad news for the Premier Auto Works Racing team, it was good news for the fans that were in attendance. The flat tire would immediately put Brian behind the proverbial eight-ball.
After finishing third in the ten-lap consolation race, the Jerry Parrish-owned No. 21 would not be able to start any better than from the 21st position. Some say that there’s no passing in Winged Sprint Car racing – Brian Montieth would prove otherwise.
At the drop of the green flag, Montieth had his elbows up and began picking off car after car, while slicing his way through the field in the Scott Zellers wrenched Triple X chassis. By the eighth go around, the Premier Motorsports mount was already up to sixth and looking for more. With eleven-laps to determine the winner, Montieth was all over race leader Cory Haas. The two-time defending track champion did what he could to get around Haas, but he would have to settle for a solid second place finish after tearing up the 3/8-mile dirt oval
The Premier Motorsports team would like to send a special thank you to the guys from the Triple X Race Co. We really enjoyed your visit and hope that you can come back and visit us again!
