Inside Line Promotions – ELMA, Wash. (Sept. 6, 2017) – Trey Starks earned a fifth-place result during his 360ci winged sprint car debut at Williams Grove Speedway last Friday to kick off a busy weekend.

Starks and the Gobrecht Motorsports team won a Patriot Sprint Tour and URC Series heat race to lock into the feature redraw at the half-mile oval in Mechanicsburg, Pa. The team drew the No. 2 during the random redraw to start the A Main on the outside of the front row.

“We ran good in the heat and led a couple of laps in the main,” he said. “I lost the lead running the wrong spot on the track. I watched the 410 race and they ran the bottom. I committed to the bottom and a couple of guys got around me on the top. Then we got shuffled back on double-file restarts. We’ll take a top five though.”

Starks returned to the track on Sunday for a 410ci winged sprint car show. He finished where he started – third – in a heat race and lined up on the outside of the sixth row for the main event, which was handicapped.

“The track was pretty heavy and tough to pass on,” he said. “We worked around a little bit, but when the dust settled we ended up 11th.

“I had to jump on a flight and get home Monday in time to get to Elma. We were scrambling pretty good so we weren’t as prepared as we should have been.”

Starks headed west to drive his family owned No. 55 sprint car during the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series event on Monday at Grays Harbor Raceway. He qualified 20th quickest, placed eighth in a heat race and ended fifth in the Last Chance Showdown to transfer into the back of the main event.

“I just tried to take what I could get in the A Main,” he said. “We were able to make some decent progress.”

Starks rallied from 23rd to a 17th-place result.

He will pilot his family car on Wednesday at Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, Ore., with the World of Outlaws before venturing east to drive for Gobrecht Motorsports on Friday and Saturday at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa., for the Tuscarora 50 with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions.
