Taylor Captures Two Wins and Two Thirds During Two Days of Racing

Inside Line Promotions – CALHAN, Colo. (Aug. 31, 2017) – Zac Taylor had the type of weekend every race car driver dreams of accomplishing. The teenager scored two 305ci sprint car wins on Sunday after producing a pair of third-place runs on Saturday during a busy weekend at El Paso County Raceway.

The performances propelled Taylor atop the Blood Sweat and Tears and Colorado Alliance Tour championship standings.

The weekend began on Saturday when Taylor drove Todd Henry’s midget to a third-place finish and his family owned sprint car to a third-place result during main event action.

“I went from seventh to fourth in the midget heat and luckily they did a dice roll instead of a pill draw and I made the front row of the feature,” he said. “But, because it was so late, they cut the feature to 15 laps and everyone tried to win it on the first lap. I was hit five times and got sideways and stalled the car, but another guy hit me really hard and it he got the engine to turn over and I continued on for third.”

In the sprint feature Taylor rolled off seventh and quickly went to the front.

“I got to third and had the fastest car on the track,” he said. “It was dry slick and one lane so I had to settle for third. In my heat I was really tight, but my dad made some adjustments and had the car fantastic for the feature.”

The momentum continued on Sunday, when the action featured a make-up A Main for the 305ci sprints. Taylor led from the drop of the green flag to the checkered and he followed that performance with an identical performance in the night’s regular feature.

“I’ve won two heats in one day, but never two features,” he said. “I have to give it to my dad; he had the car perfect all night. If we can keep going like this we could win two championships this year.”

Taylor, who now has six wins this year, plans to take this weekend off before heading back to El Paso County Raceway with the Colorado Alliance Tour on Sept. 9.
