Murphy Captures Fourth At Ocean Speedway

By Gary Costa

Watsonville, CA – (May 7, 2010) --- While Clovis, CA driver Peter Murphy may not have won the race at Ocean Speedway last Friday but, he is most certainly inching his way toward his first victory of the season aboard the Buster & Ziggy Enterprise No. 11. Murphy has been solid in all three outings that he has raced in the potent machine. In his first race of the season in the No. 11, Murphy was involved in an accident while racing in the fifth position during the 30-lap feature. Since putting that night to rest, he has racked-up two fourth place finishes and turned in a stirring drive at Santa Maria Speedway on April 30, as the veteran driver would charge from his 14th starting spot to finish fourth in the A-Main.

Murphy has been quietly moving up in the Ocean Sprint Car Series presented by Taco Bravo Series point standings. He currently sits in seventh in the Buster & Ziggy Enterprise, Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino, Kiwi Transport, Tom Ingram Motorsports, Pro Signs No. 11 Maxim. In addition to racing the Buster & Ziggy Enterprise mount, Murphy also races Tom Tarlton's Non-Wing Sprint Car with the West Coast 360 Series, where he is currently second in the points. It's a true testament to Murphy's capabilities as a driver, as he is able to jump from one type of car to another, but yet, still remain competitive and on top of his game every night.

In racing action, Peter's evening started with him being the 24th car out for qualifying, where he timed-in seventh out of the 27 cars on the field, then finished second in his heat race. Murphy would then start the 30-lap feature event seventh on the grid. During A-Main event action, Murphy tossed himself into a spirited duel with Brent Kaeding and Kyle Larson. In the latter stages of the race, Murphy slipped by Kaeding en route to his second consecutive fourth place finish.

"That was a fun race! We have been good every night out so far. We still have some things to work on, but we'll get them figured out. I'm real fortunate to be driving for Junior Bowman & George Snider," Murphy commented. "They give me all of the stuff that we need to be competitive. We are focused on winning races, and by turning in good finishes; the points will take care of themselves. I'm ready to go right now! Friday can't come quick enough!"

A busy weekend of racing awaits Peter. Friday, he will be at the helm of the Buster & Ziggy No. 11 at Ocean Speedway. Then on Saturday, he will pull double-duty at the Tulare Thunderbowl. He will drive Tom Tarlton's Non-Wing Sprint Car during the West Coast 360 race, and Rick Eberhardt's 410 Winged Sprint Car with the Golden State Challenge Series Sprint Cars.
