Inside Line Promotions – EAGLE, Neb. (Aug. 23, 2017) – Jack Dover is focused on Victory Lane this weekend as he tackles a Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints doubleheader.
Dover will compete on Friday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., for the Speedy Bill Smith Memorial and Saturday at Park Jefferson International Speedway in Jefferson, S.D. He’s won at both tracks this season.
“We have a lot of wins at both places so that’s always a confidence booster,” he said. “I’ve been stuck on seven wins this season since June so our goal is to go add a couple more this weekend.”
Dover has earned a dozen victories, 19 podium finishes and 23 top fives in 32 races during 360ci winged sprint car action at I-80 Speedway dating back to 2013.
He has also won seven of his last 11 races at Park Jefferson International Speedway.
“Confidence is huge in racing,” he said. “The mental part of the sport is probably the most important. Whenever you go back to a track where you’ve won, especially consistently, you feel like you’re a contender right out of the box.”
Dover competed in a 305ci winged sprint car race last Saturday at Eagle Raceway, where he charged from ninth to win a heat race. However, he was light at the scales and therefore relegated to the back of the B Main. Dover then charged from 19th to eighth in the B Main and narrowly missed transferring into the main event.
“We drove my car for the first time in that class so the weight was just something that was accidently overlooked,” he said. “Those types of things slip through the cracks from time to time and you just have to take your lumps and fix the issue, which we did right away.”
