Inside Line Promotions – OHSWEKEN, Ontario, Canada (Aug. 22, 2017) – Joe Trenca was on pace to contend for his first career sprint car win last Friday at Ohsweken Speedway.
Trenca guided the Mucci Motorsports entry to a fourth-place finish during heat race competition to lock into the feature redraw. He then pulled the No. 1 to start the A Main on the pole.
“We definitely had a good car,” he said. “The guy on the outside got the lead on the start of the main event so I slid him into turn one and he crossed me. I slid him again into turn three and he crossed me. He got out in clean air. I knew it’d be whoever could run the top the hardest. I broke my momentum, but we were running good and started to catch him.”
Trenca was running second when his front end broke entering turn one only a handful of laps into the race.
“It’s heartbreaking,” he said. “It wasn’t anything we can prevent. It was one of those random things. We’ll just keep digging and hopefully we can pull one out this year. We had a really good car. I would have liked to see what we could have done.”
Trenca was unable to restart the race and he was credited with an 18th-place result.
The team will take this weekend off to prepare for a Patriot Sprint Tour tripleheader on Sept. 1 at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa.; Sept. 2 at Selinsgrove Speedway in Selinsgrove, Pa.; and Sept. 3 at Path Valley Speedway Park in Spring Run, Pa.
