Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 14, 2017) – Sammy Swindell is taking on the Pennsylvania Posse this weekend when he will drive for Coldren Motorsports during four Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions races in Central Pennsylvania.

The team will compete on Thursday at Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville; on Friday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg; on Saturday at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown; and on Sunday at Susquehanna Speedway in Newberrytown.

Swindell posted a trio of podium finishes during the last three All Star races, including a victory.

“I enjoy racing in Central Pennsylvania and am looking forward to four nights in a row up there,” he said. “Hopefully we can gel quickly and be a contender right away.”

Swindell is coming off the 57th annual 5-Hour Energy Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey’s General Store last weekend at Knoxville Raceway, where he drove for A.G. Rains.

“After the 360 Knoxville Nationals where we got crashed we weren’t quite prepared for all that,” Swindell said. “It was a bit of a struggle. Plus, I was kind of beat up.”

It didn’t get any easier for Swindell, who kicked off the event last Thursday by qualifying 17th quickest. He then finished fifth in a heat race – by less than one tenth of a second – to miss locking into the main event by only one position. That relegated him to the sixth starting position in the B Main.

“I got hit by a muffler on the first corner,” he said. “It busted my helmet and the visor off. I saw it coming and turned my face as far as I could. It hit my right cheek. I was pretty much done then. I saw a pretty big star.”

Swindell returned to the half-mile oval on Friday for the Hard Knox night.

“We drew the same number – No. 62 – three times in a row,” he said. “We were at our usual spot. It seemed like every night the track slowed down some as qualifying went along. We qualified decent. The car was a lot better starting off.”

Swindell timed in 11th quickest in his group and he won a heat race from the pole position to lock into the 14th starting position for the A Main.

“We moved up right away on the start and got by some cars, but it seemed like all race whenever we’d get momentum something would happen right in front of us to cause us to lose that,” he said. “Toward the end I got hung up with a couple of cars in a pack.”

Swindell finished 10th, which was his 15th top 10 of the season. That lined him up 16th in the B Main during Saturday’s Knoxville Nationals finale.

“We made a bunch of big changes since we were starting that far back,” he said. “I needed to get a good start and a couple of guys ahead of me were bouncing off each other. I got caught in that and lost some spots. We went down at the next end and someone changed lanes in front of me so I got aero-tight. I got over the cushion so I decided to call it a day.”
