Lonnie Wheatley, NIXA, Mo. (August 3, 2017) – The lake is always a nice place to be during the heat of the summer and Kyle Bellm continues to have the hot hand at Lake Ozark Speedway after driving the Resource Asset Management Solutions (RAMS) No. 14k Sprint Car to another win on Saturday night.
The win aboard the PPG Automotive Finishes/Colorvision machine marked Bellm’s fifth triumph of the season and fourth atop the 1/3-mile Lake Ozark Speedway clay oval.
“It was good to get another one there,” Bellm says. “That track just keeps being good for us.”
A high draw number did nothing to slow Bellm and the Kannady Racing Engines/Heidbreder Foundation Service entry on this night.
“I drew the last starting position for the heat and managed to win it,” Bellm recalls.
A dash for cash was next on the evening slate of events for the VP Racing Fuels/Schure Built Suspensions team.
“We had a little too deep a gear for the heat race and didn’t get that changed out in time,” Bellm says.
With a few more adjustments made, Bellm and the Christian County Collision Repair/Bybee Lawn Care team were feature ready.
“It was a pretty good race, Miles Paulus made us work for it,” Bellm relates. “He got by on a mid-race restart and we slid each other back and forth for a couple of laps.”
Bellm ultimately prevailed and went on to post the win aboard the Schaeffer Oil/Prater Designs/The Engine Heater machine.
“Miles was probably a little better than us on the short runs and we were better on the longer runs,” Bellm sums up.
Bellm and crew will get the next two weekends off before gearing up for the stretch drive of the 2017 season.
2017 Quick Stats: 25 races, 5 wins, 12 top-fives, 12 top-tens.
