Josh Schneiderman – Cappy This Sunday!

Josh Schneiderman and the Deuce Motorsports #49 team will compete at the “Capitani Classic” this Sunday. It’s the last event at Knoxville Raceway before the 57th Annual 5-hour ENERGY Knoxville Nationals commence next week. Last Saturday night, the West Burlington, Iowa native came home 13th in the feature at Knoxville.

Things started with Josh timing in ninth quick, after coming out 22nd in the order. “We were somewhat late going out, so to be ninth quick was respectable,” he says. “We were honestly pretty happy. We were off a bit, but we’re not going to complain about that.”

A tough heat saw him finish fifth after starting fourth. “I don’t know if they were blinking when the heat started or not,” jokes Josh. “It was kind of an embarrassing start when Madsen got beside Tasker (Phillips) there before the line and bunched us all up. We didn’t have anywhere to go. Then we got a dirty slider and it was a snowball effect. We got in line and finished fifth.”

Starting eleventh in the feature, Josh would vie in the top ten before settling for 13th. “I thought the way the track was earlier in the night, it would be different,” he says. “You don’t expect the place to be that dry…and it has been all year. It’s frustrating, but it’s the same for everybody. I didn’t get to the rubber quick enough late there, and got hung out on top.”

Though it was an entertaining race up front, he would lose a spot or two late. The team will do some testing at this Sunday’s Capitani Classic. “A couple of guys got by us late,” says Josh. “Track position is so important any more. We ended up 13th. We need to be a little bit better. We’ll do some testing early at the Cappy. If it works, we’ll keep going, and if it doesn’t, we’ll just get ready for the Nationals.”
