UPDATE TO PRESS RELEASE: Turner Plumbing and wholesalers have raised money for the sport modifieds. The Sport Modified purse will pay $1,000 to win, $400 for 2nd, $300 for 3rd, and $75 to start the A Main at Park Jefferson Saturday Night. Also, the IMCA Modifieds will pay $700 to win the Road to the Iron Cup, which will be a draw/redraw event
This Saturday night is the annual Mark Lloyd Memorial. This weeks racing will feature the Road to the Iron Cup for Modifieds, along with the 2nd appearance of the LMSS. The LMSS is a class of cars that Brandon, SD native Mark Lloyd was very close to and it is exciting to have them as part of the night. All of the IMCA classes will be on hand including the IMCA RACESaver Sprint Cars.
Lloyd, along with his family including former intern and announcer Austin, were instrumental in the recreation of Park Jefferson in 2014. The track had sat dormant from 2011-2014 and demolition had already begun on the pit area and track when the facility was purchased by Adam Adamson. Austin Lloyd was one of the first employees and his father was instrumental in working with him to bring the facility to working order. Lloyd also worked closely with track prep man Greg Bakker to prep the fine racing surface during the first year.
This is the 2nd to last point night for all the IMCA classes and the action should be fast and furious. The Signmasters Modifieds will be racing for $550 to win and $25 drawn in positions 2-5 and 6-24. All modified drivers will receive an Iron Cup $25 off registration voucher.
