Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 1, 2017) – Trey Starks soaked up the learning experience last Saturday when he produced his first laps of the season at Knoxville Raceway.

“It was definitely a night of racing that we needed to have happen before the Knoxville Nationals,” he said. “We wanted to make sure everything was set in place and it definitely wasn’t. We learned what we needed to and we’ll make the changes necessary. It served its purpose.”

Starks and the Gobrecht Motorsports team qualified 16th quickest before finishing third in a heat race. That locked the team into the 13th starting position for the A Main.

“I had a bid for the lead on the start of the heat race,” he said. “I have to get used to racing at Knoxville. It’s a momentum track. I tried to slide for the lead on the opening corner and it hung in the middle. It let a car get around the outside of me and we lost a bit of momentum.

“In the feature we were running around where we started the whole race. The last 10 laps the track rubber around the bottom and we were way off for when the rubber came in.”

Starks ended with an 18th-place finish.

He will now shift his focus to his family owned No. 55 sprint car for the 27th annual 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank this Thursday through Saturday at Knoxville Raceway.

“I’m excited to get more laps at Knoxville and to bring the family car to Knoxville,” he said. “It’s been a while since we’ve had the family car at a big event. I’m excited to see how it plays out and how we’ve progressed throughout the years.”
