Matt Covington and the Covington Motorsports Wesmar powered Maxim #95 picked up the opening night win at the famed "Ditch" in West Memphis, Arkansas.
Matt and the Covington Motorsports team would make the trip from Oklahoma to West Memphis against a full field of locals in hopes of getting some laps and a handle on the chassis for the upcoming ASCS National show on April 23rd and 24th and Riverside International Speedway.
Matt would have his work cut out for him as he would draw 47 out of 50 in the pill draw and have to start from the last row and 8th starting postion in the heat. As the green flag fell in the heat Matt would go to work and drive through the field and end up with 2nd place honors. The 2nd place finish would put Matt on top of the passing point chart and on the front row of the A-Main. Matt was able to get the jump on the start of the A-Main and lead the field from start to finish to secure his second win of the season and come home across the strip ahead of Brad Bowden and Marshall Skinner.
The win and knowledge gained will hopefully be helpful for the Covington Motorsports team as they get ready and prepare for next weekends action at Riverside and TBJ's Promotions "Rock n Roll 50".
Stay in tune with Matt and the team throughout the season at the team website www.mattcovington95.com. A very special thanks goes out to T&L Foundry, Bob Hurley Ford, C.G. Martin Company, Pro Shocks, Keizer Wheels, Butler Built Race Seats, Maxim Racing Chassis, Simpson Race Products,Wesmar Racing Engines and Schoenfeld Headers for their continued help and support. Without their help and support this season would be a challenge and difficult to complete.
