Inside Line Promotions – OHSWEKEN, Ontario, Canada (July 27, 2017) – Joe Trenca earned his career-best finish at Ohsweken Speedway on Monday during the Northern Summer Nationals.

The Mucci Motorsports driver opened the 360ci winged sprint car event by finishing where he started – fourth – in a heat race to lock into the main event.

“We were real good in the heat race,” he said. “We moved forward right away and the first four of us were battling for the lead and second. Two cars got together in front of me so I had to check up and we fell back to fourth. Then we had a good battle with the fifth-place car and we held on for the final transfer.”

Trenca started the main event on the inside of the eighth row.

“We passed four or five cars going into turn one,” he said. “We got up on the top and started ripping it. We were really good up there. I was running sixth or seventh and we had a restart with one lap to go. I got a great restart and was up battling for fourth when a car came up in front of us. I had to check up and the guys got back by me on the bottom. I’d have liked to get a top five, but I was pleased with our result as we charged through the field.”

Trenca’s seventh-place result topped his previous best effort of eighth in 2014.

He returned to the track on Tuesday for the Arrow Express Six Nations Showdown with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series. Trenca qualified 17th quickest in his group before advancing from ninth to seventh place in a heat race.

“We just missed it in time trials,” he said. “We were a lot better in the heat race, but we just started too far back. We were supposed to start 13th in the Last Chance Showdown, but we got put back a row on the start for passing the pace truck after the tower told me to pass it. I was confused by that. We made it all the way to fifth. The fourth-place car was getting away from me so I tried something different to make something happen with two laps to go and lost a couple of spots.”

Trenca capped the event with an eighth-place finish in the consolation race.

He is slated to compete this Friday at Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, N.Y., and Sunday at Lebanon Valley Speedway in West Lebanon, N.Y., with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions.
