Inside Line Promotions – GREENWOOD, Neb. (July 26, 2017) – Jack Dover is aiming to turn his luck around as two of the biggest weeks of sprint car racing are on the horizon.
Dover is diligently preparing for the 360 Knoxville Nationals and 410 Knoxville Nationals, which are held the first two weekends in August at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa.
“Luck is probably 70 percent of those races,” he said. “Whether it’s the pill draw, where you start in races, who you start next to or who has a problem to bring out a caution, a lot of luck is involved and you need luck on your side.”
Dover didn’t have luck on his side last Thursday as he was hampered by a mechanical problem on the last lap of the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints event at I-80 Speedway while he was running seventh in the Chris Bowers owned sprint car.
“It goes along with the bad luck I’ve had this month,” he said. “We’ve just hit a bad streak.”
Dover opened the event by advancing from fourth to second place to make the feature redraw. He then pulled the highest number – eight – to start the main event on the outside of the fourth row.
“There wasn’t a lot of passing so we ran around seventh the entire race,” he said.
The problem on the final lap resulted in a 12th-place finish for Dover, who said he is unsure whether he will race this weekend as he is focusing on the upcoming Knoxville Nationals events.
