Belleville, IL - The POWRi Lucas Oil D-II Midgets have a busy weekend of racing on tap this coming Friday and Saturday, July 28/29, in Central Illinois. On Friday night, the nimble racers will be at the home base for the division, Lincoln Speedway. Saturday's action will be at Mighty Macon Speedway, just 45 minutes to the southeast.
Belleville, IL driver, Tyler Vantoll, currently leads the POWRi Lucas Oil DII Midget national standings by nearly 200 points over Jack Routson. Routson, from Waterman, IL, picked up his first career feature win on July 14 at Lincoln Speedway and backed it up with his second at the Champaign County Fairgrounds a week later. Josh Thomas, Andy Malpocker, and Shane Morgan round out the top five in the current national points.
At Lincoln Speedway, Routson leads the local points for the DII's presented by Nutech Seed. Vantoll, last year's champion, is second, while Mitchell Davis, Andy Baugh, and Gedd Ross complete the top five. Vantoll has won three features, Ross has claimed two, and Routson won the most recent one.
On Friday at Lincoln, pits open at 4:00, grandstands at 5:00, pill draw ends at 6:00, hotlaps start at 6:10, and racing will begin at 7:00. UMP Pro Late Models, UMP Modifieds, UMP Hornets, Vintage Racing Of Illinois, and Kidmodz will also be in action. Grandstand admission is $15, while kids 11 and under are free.
On Saturday at Macon, pits open at 4:00, grandstands at 5:00, pill draw ends at 5:50, hotlaps start at 6:00, and racing will begin at 7:00. Neal Tire MOWA Sprint Cars, Midwest Big Ten UMP Pro Late Models, Beach House Micros, and UMP Hornets will also race. Grandstand admission is $20, while kids 11 and under are free.
