Matt Covington wins 1st Career National ASCS Race

Twenty-year-old Matt Covington captured his first career Lucas Oil ASCS Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters National triumph by wiring the field in Friday night's 30-lap main event atop the 1/2-mile Lone Star Speedway in his Wesmar powered Maxim.

The Oklahoma racer topped the rugged 52-car field by beating Terry McCarl to the checkered flag, with Shane Stewart, Jason Johnson and Brian Brown rounding out the top five.

The team will head on to Little Rock in hope of continuing the sucess of Kilgore
