TULSA, Okla. (July 19, 2017) A debt of gratitude is owed to some of the best people to ever take the helm of a series. For over 15 years, the Gulf South Region of the American Sprint Car Series has been guided by Keith Johnson with the help of Craig and Debra Johnson.
Keith, who is the uncle of five-time ASCS National Tour Champion, Jason Johnson, made the decision to retire as the director of the Gulf South Region in 2016, but at the wishes of Emmett Hahn, stayed on until the mid-point of the 2017 season. Craig and Debra, who are Jason’s parents, graciously stayed on as well.
“I can’t begin to thank Keith, Debra, and Craig enough for everything they did for my family and this series. Finding someone who will help you for a few years is one thing, but to get a family that will stand by you for almost 20 years; now that’s rare. They did a good job, and as much as I didn’t want to see them retire, I understand that eventually, just have to go fishing and chase grand-kids,” said ASCS Founder, Emmett Hahn.
The series will now be under the direction of Larry Howery, with the assistance of Bruce Griffith, Jr. for the remainder of the 2017 season. Any questions can be directed to Larry Howery by calling (979) 574-9033 or Bruce Griffith at (713) 202-7131.
The Griffith Truck and Equipment ASCS Gulf South Region returns to action on Saturday, July 22 at Battleground Speedway in Highlands, Texas.
