Zeb Wise Scores First Career Midget Victory with Clauson-Marshall Racing at Montpelier!
Montpelier, IN | July 18, 2017 – Parking the Driven 2 Save Lives No. 39BC in victory lane on Saturday night at Montpelier Motor Speedway, Clauson-Marshall Racing’s Development Driver, Zeb Wise, earned his first career midget victory in only his 14th event. The Angola, Indiana 14-year old, who picked up an incredible $5,000 micro sprint win nearly a month ago at US-24 Speedway, continues to impress and shine as he rises through the ranks with the Clauson-Marshall team. On Saturday night, Wise turned everything full circle, as he charged from seventh-to-first and claimed his first career midget triumph over a solid 27-car field at Montpelier.
“Montpelier usually draws a pretty good midget group for local shows with guys like Davey Ray and even Brent Beauchamp, so it wasn’t just a walk in the park,” noted Zeb. “To go out and win was a big deal to me and my family. One of the coolest things that happened all weekend though, was waking up on Sunday morning and looking at my phone. The first thing I read was a message from Tim saying, ‘Just a reminder, you are a midget winner.’ To win for a guy like him, his family and the rest of the team is quite an accomplishment in my book. But even better, I can officially say I have a part in the Clauson-Marshall Racing trophy room!”
Opening the night in heat race action, Wise maneuvered his Stanton SR-11 powered Spike Chassis from sixth-to-third in his only preliminary showing. Garnering a seventh-place starting position for the 20-lap feature, Wise wasted no time as he quickly worked his way to the front. Driving around a solid group of veterans and even holding off USAC Sprint Car winner, Brent Beauchamp, the 14-year old rising star was up for every challenge he was presented. Wise would eventually power his way into the lead in the second half and never look back as he moved on to secure his first midget win with Clauson-Marshall Racing and park the No. 39BC in victory lane.
“It’s always exciting getting the first win with a driver,” said Tim Clauson. “Zeb has exceeded every expectation I had when we decided on him for our development program. He had knocked on the door several times already and busted it open on Saturday night. Coming off such a great week with the USAC guys, it was nice to keep the momentum rolling with Zeb.”
Returning to the POWRi National Midget League this weekend, Zeb will look to continue his hot streak on the national scale as he tackles the thrilling Belle-Clair Speedway in Belleville, Illinois for the first time on Saturday night. Following a trip to the “Belle-Vegas” 1/5th mile, Zeb will return to Indiana on Sunday night for another shot at Kokomo Speedway, where he has already claimed a stellar third place run earlier in 2017.

CLAUSON-MARSHALL RACING:
Race On. A saying that Bryan Clauson always related to his father Tim when our sport faced its darkest moments. It’s what racers do, we continue to race on. Following Bryan’s tragic passing in August of 2016, Tim Clauson and Richard Marshall never wavered when they formed Clauson-Marshall Racing. After unveiling a dream team at the 2017 Chili Bowl, CMR shifted focus to USAC. With a trio of Tyler Courtney, Justin Grant and Shane Golobic competing on the national level, along with Zeb Wise in the development ranks of POWRi Midgets and micro sprints, the future at Clauson-Marshall Racing looks brighter than ever.
