Solid Top 5 Finish for Bruce Racing Team at Devil’s Bowl

Jimmy Jones, MESQUITE, TX (March 22nd, 2010) – Tony Bruce Jr. and the Bruce Racing Team continued their steady start to the 2010 season with a solid 5th place finish in the 37th Annual Spring Nationals at the Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas Friday night. The event was shortened to a single, $6K to win show, due to inclement weather that brought snow to the DFW Metroplex on Saturday.

Thus far in 2010, Bruce Jr. has finished among the top five on five out of nine nights of competition.

Over all, Tony was happy with his performance in the opening night of points with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Dirt Series. He won from Pole of his heat race going away, but noted that they are still chasing a few bugs. “It wasn’t too bad. The heat race was extremely good for us. I started on the pole which makes my job a hell of a lot easier. The car was working really well. Unfortunately, right now we seem to have some motor issues that we are gonna have to get solved. It kind of held us back a bit tonight,” said Tony.

After making the redraw, Tony lined up in the 7th position for the A main and felt pretty good about the car. “Wayne and the guys worked real hard all week long to make sure everything was right for our first point’s night. The car was great; the motor was just off a bit. I felt like I drove a decent race. It was a real good night for us; a solid points night…5th place. Best thing is we have a lot of family here and sponsors down in this area; the Oil Medics guys and everyone down here and I can’t thank them enough.”

After a weekend off, the Bruce Racing Team will return to south Texas for a pair of stops with the ASCS Gulf South Region on April 2nd and 3rd at Golden Triangle Speedway in Beaumont and Houston Raceway Park.

The Team will return to action with the ASCS National Tour on April 9th at Lonestar Speedway in Kilgore, Texas and the following night, April 10th, at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock. Tony expressed excitement about the weeks ahead. “The beautiful thing about Lonestar being our next National Tour race is right after that we are going to Little Rock. The quicker we can get out of Lonestar and the faster we can get to Little Rock I will be excited. I am really looking forward to getting this season underway. I think we have a great package with all the guys and the sponsors we brought on board this year,” says Tony.
