LEDUC, Alb. (July 13, 2017) Taking on the Grizzly Nationals at Gallatin Speedway with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series National Tour presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network, 2017 ASCS Brodix Rookie of the Year leader Skylar Gee ended his weekend with a ninth place finish at the three-eighths mile oval.
Starting the weekend off with a 12th place showing, Gee found himself struggling to keep pace despite starting outside the front row. Starting to the outside of the third row on Saturday night, Gee again slipped backwards but was able to keep the car inside the top-ten.
“We were really good early on both nights, but honestly it was a really disappointing weekend for us. We had a lot of success there last year and figured we’d be better, but we just couldn’t get it working the features,” commented Gee. “I just made some mistakes that cost us.”
Taking the week to go over the Carlan Services No. 99, Gee got some assistance from BDS Motorsports owner, Bryan Sundby. Taking in what the veteran car owner had to say, Gee was very appreciative of the tips.
Moving east to Black Hills Speedway in Rapid City, S.D. for the Rushmore Rumble on Friday, July 14 and Saturday, July 15, Gee hopes to get his momentum rolling again at the big half-mile. One year ago, Skylar placed eighth in the preliminary A-Feature.
“We were fast here last year. We’d only seen it one time, but showed some good speed. We did a lot of work on our program this week so we’re hoping to get some top finishes going into Knoxville. ”
Skylar would again like to thank Strong’s Crane Services in Billings, Mont. and the Liebig family in Rapid City, S.D. for their continue support of the No. 99 team.
