Inside Line Promotions – THE WOODLANDS, Texas (July 11, 2017) – Tommy Bryant and the SawBlade.com backed Cooper Motorsports team are heading to one of his favorite tracks this weekend.
The team will invade Battleground Speedway in Highlands, Texas, on Saturday with the ASCS Gulf South Region.
“I’ve never been known as a big track guy, but I’ve gotten very comfortable at Battleground and we know how to make the car fast there,” he said.
Engine problems have sidelined Bryant for a few weeks, but a fresh engine has been installed and he is ready to battle this weekend.
“We shipped one engine back to the builder and dug the backup out from under the cabinet and got it all checked out,” he said. “We haven’t run it in two years and it seems okay so we will find out Saturday.”
Bryant scored a win on March 25 and he finished third on June 17 during two races at Battleground Speedway this season.
“We probably should have won the last time there,” he said. “We had that different engine in and the throttle linkage kept hanging up on the dash in the heat and that put us behind the eight ball. We got it fixed and by the feature I was among the fastest cars on the track.”
Saturday’s race is one of only five events remaining in 2017 for the ASCS Gulf South Region competitors. Three of those are at Battleground Speedway, which also hosts races on Sept. 2-3 for the 3rd annual Jim Brown Memorial.
“Hopefully we can get two or three more wins before the season wraps up,” Bryant added.
