Inside Line Promotions – WAYNESFIELD, Ohio (July 6, 2017) – Shawn Dancer was looking forward to a four-day weekend of racing, but Mother Nature had other plans last weekend when she got the best of two out of four days during the Week of Speed for the 360ci winged sprint cars.

Dancer headed to Limaland Motorsports Park in Lima, Ohio, on Friday only to have the first of four straight NRA Sprint Invaders and Great Lakes Sprints Series events cancelled due to rain. He then traveled to Fremont Speedway in Fremont, Ohio, on Saturday.

“We qualified pretty bad,” he said. “We went out late and the track was rough.”

Dancer’s 18th-place qualifying effort started him fifth in the heat race. He finished fourth, which lined the team up 14th in the A Main.

“We got a lot better as the night went on, but ended up hitting the wall and flipped,” he said. “The scariest part was getting hit pretty hard by another car. That ended our night.”

Dancer, who was credited with a 19th-place finish, ventured to Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio, on Sunday after not racing there in seven years.

“That was the very first track I ever raced at and I don’t know if I ever went back or not,” he said. “We qualified fourth, which started us fourth in the first heat race.”

Dancer was penalized for jumping the start, moving him back a row to the sixth position. He was able to gain a couple of positions to end fourth.

“We started 16th in the A Main and it was rubber down as soon as we hit the track,” he said. “It was basically follow the leader and we finished 13th.”

Dancer qualified ninth quickest to open Monday’s show at Waynesfield Raceway Park before rain washed out the remainder of the race.

Dancer will take this weekend off before competing on July 11 at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, for the Brad Doty Classic and July 13-15 at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio, for the Kings Royal with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.
