Inside Line Promotions – FULTON, N.Y. (July 5, 2017) – Joe Trenca posted his career-best sprint car finish last Thursday when he made his debut at McKean County Speedway with the Patriot Sprint Tour.
Trenca kicked off the night by leading the Mucci Motorsports team to a heat race win, which advanced him into the feature redraw. He pulled the No. 4 to start the main event on the outside of the second row.
“It was a pretty cool track,” he said. “We got to third on the start and rode there until we got to traffic. There were a lot of yellows and we had like a 15-minute red flag. I was able to get to second quickly after and then showed the leader my line too early. We had a shot at the leader the last couple of laps. I think I showed him what I had too early. I probably should have waited until one or two laps to go.”
Trenca’s second-place finish was his second top five this season.
The next two nights of Patriot Sprint Tour competition were rained out so Trenca decided to tackle an Empire Super Sprints event on Saturday at Fulton Speedway. He advanced from sixth to fifth place in a heat race before finishing where he started – third – in the dash. That lined the Mucci Motorsports team up on the inside of the eighth row for the main event.
“The track was real narrow and curbed up early in the night, but they widened it a bit for the feature,” he said. “We took our time getting through there. We were trying to survive and we got a top 10 out of it.”
Trenca rallied to a 10th-place result, which was his eighth top 10.
Mucci Motorsports is slated to compete this Friday at Albany-Saratoga Speedway in Malta, N.Y., with the Patriot Sprint Tour and on Saturday at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa., for a Pennsylvania Speedweek race.
