Clauson-Marshall Racing Set for Three-Day Stretch in Illinois at Macon, Lincoln and Springfield!

Noblesville, IN | June 30, 2017 – Returning to action for the first time since claiming the Indiana Midget Week championship, the Clauson-Marshall Racing crew will head to Illinois with a stout slate of three events on tap this weekend. Competing with the USAC National Midget Series, the trio of Justin Grant, Shane Golobic and Tyler Courtney will tackle races at Macon Speeday on Saturday, Lincoln Speedway on Sunday, and the Multi-Purpose Arena at the Illinois State Fairgrounds on Monday night.

Opening the weekend on Saturday night, CMR will first run at the Macon Speedway in Macon, Illinois. Following that visit to the “Mighty Macon” 1/5th mile, the team will travel to Lincoln, Illinois for a Sunday appearance at the Lincoln Speedway. On Monday night, the stretch will conclude with the Adam Lopez Illinois Midget Nationals, a special event held at the Illinois State Fairgrounds Multi-Purpose Arena in Springfield.

Heading into this weekend, Golobic, Grant and Courtney sit 3rd, 4th and 5th in the USAC National Midget point standings. Golobic trails the point leader, Brady Bacon, by just 37 points, while Grant and Courtney are 48 and 81 points back, respectively. With 14 scheduled events still on the calendar, all three drivers remain very much alive in title contention.

With nine races completed this season in the USAC National Midget ranks, the Clauson-Marshall duo of Courtney and Grant have combined to win three times. “Sunshine” has accounted for two of those with IMW wins at Montpelier and Bloomington, while Grant recorded a season-opening triumph at the Shamrock Classic held inside the Southern Illinois Center.

In those nine events, the trio of CMR drivers have all managed to find extreme consistency. Golobic leads the way with an average finish of 6.6 while Grant with 7.4 and Courtney with 7.8 are right behind him. In fact, out of the last four races and 12 combined feature starts, the worst finish for any driver was seventh.

Hoping to build upon their Indiana Midget Week championship and surge to the forefront of title contention, Courtney, Golobic and Grant will be big-time threats this weekend in the Illini State. We will have coverage and updates of the weekend on our social media outlets, but for those looking for pay-per-view action, you can tune into Speed Shift TV on Monday night for a live showing at the Adam Lopez Illinois Midget Nationals in Springfield.

CLAUSON-MARSHALL RACING:
Race On. A saying that Bryan Clauson always related to his father Tim when our sport faced its darkest moments. It’s what racers do, we continue to race on. Following Bryan’s tragic passing in August of 2016, Tim Clauson and Richard Marshall never wavered when they formed Clauson-Marshall Racing. After unveiling a dream team at the 2017 Chili Bowl, CMR shifted focus to USAC. With a trio of Tyler Courtney, Justin Grant and Shane Golobic competing on the national level, along with Zeb Wise in the development ranks of POWRi Midgets and micro sprints, the future at Clauson-Marshall Racing looks brighter than ever.
