Inside Line Promotions – BEAVER DAM, Wis. (June 28, 2017) – Kerry Madsen led Big Game Motorsports to a trio of stout results last week.

The competition began on Tuesday at Granite City Speedway in Sauk Rapids, Minn., where the Muddy backed team timed in ninth quickest during qualifying with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series. Madsen picked up a position in a heat race to finish second and lock into the dash. He gained a spot in the dash to place fifth and another position in the main event to end fourth.

“I think we were really good and we were right there in the hunt,” he said. “We were in a position to attack the whole race. We needed to be one percent better. We needed to be a tick better to pass the guys, but we were right there and that’s all you can ask for.”

The team ventured to Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., on Friday. Madsen set quick time during qualifying before charging from sixth to second place in a heat race.

“We were quick time and really good in the heat race,” he said. “They inverted 10 for the main event. We just couldn’t make a lot of progress. You had to be really good to pass.”

Madsen advanced from 10th to sixth place in the A Main.

The weekend concluded on Saturday at Beaver Dam Raceway. Madsen qualified second quickest in his group and was on pace to make the dash when disaster struck.

“We were leading the heat race and the rear axle broke and we backed into the wall,” he said. “It wasn’t looking real good at that point. The boys thrashed hard and got us out for the (Last Chance Showdown) in the nick of time.”

Madsen won the Last Chance Showdown to lock into the 21st starting position for the main event.

“To be honest I really thought we were going to have hustle just not to get lapped,” he said. “I thought if everything goes right we’re in for a top 10. We kept passing cars and the cautions came out at the right time. The only thing I was doing different was I could run hard into turn one. I was staying on the bottom on the restarts. People would get tight and bounce out of my way.”

Madsen rallied to a runner-up result, which was his 15th top five of the season and earned the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.

The Muddy sponsored team will compete this Thursday at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn., for the Clash at the Creek with the World of Outlaws; Friday at Jackson Motorplex; and Saturday at either Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, or Dakota State Fair Speedway in Huron, S.D., with the World of Outlaws.
