Blurton Excited for Big Week with Lots of Money on the Line

Inside Line Promotions – QUINTER, Kan. (June 28, 2017) – Zach Blurton is pumped up for a huge week of racing as big money is on the line during a four-race span with the United Rebel Sprint Series.

The action begins next Monday at the Belleville High Banks in Belleville, Kan., where the event is co-sanctioned by the Sprint Series of Nebraska with the race paying $1,000 to win.

“We always run well at Belleville and with the Sprint Series of Nebraska coming there will be a lot of cars,” he said.

Blurton will then travel to Thomas County Raceway in Colby, Kan., on Friday, July 7, followed by a trip to Lincoln County Speedway in North Platte, Neb., on Saturday, July 8, for a $1,500-to-win affair.

“We won that race last year,” he said. “It’s a memorial race for a friend of ours so it’s pretty special. They haven’t raced sprint cars there for a long time so there will be a big crowd there.”

On Sunday, July 9, Blurton will wrap up the busy week at Lexington Raceway in Lexington, Neb.

“Besides the features paying well, there’s money for fast qualifiers and heats throughout the week and there’s a point fund for the four races,” he said.
Blurton tuned up for the busy week racing last Thursday at U.S. 30 Speedway in Columbus, Neb., where he advanced from fourth to second place in a heat race.

“We ran well early and had a good starting spot in the feature (10th), but the track rubbered up bad and I pulled in to save everything,” he said. “It’s a good thing I did. Saturday morning when we were doing maintenance on the car I discovered the right front hub had cracked all the way through. Had we not found that out we probably would have destroyed a car at Eagle Saturday.”

Blurton, who was credited with a 13th-place result, wrapped up the weekend on Saturday at Eagle Raceway. He maneuvered from fifth to third place in a heat race before charging from 13th to eighth in the main event.

“The track got really slick and I should have had the car a little tighter,” he said. “I wasn’t aggressive enough on the set-up, but we still finished eighth.”
