Derrik made the trip to the 2010 Tulsa Shootout with the Brewers. Mike and Kenny were competing in the Outlaw Mini Sprint class, with their freshly painted Hyper Racing Mini Sprints. Mark "Mac Daddy" Rosoborough was also along for the trip. During practice the cars were a little bit loose and Mike's car was shaking. We thought the chain was slipping on the gear but after changing gears the car was still shaking in the heat race. Mike started and finished 5th in the heat. Kenny started on the pole but ran 4th behind two previous winners.
The next day we found the problem with mikes car after some advice from Paul Graham, we tested first second and third gear in the parking lot. The car only shook in second gear, so we re geared the car for third.
Their heat race finishes put them both in the D mains for the main event day. With the double lower main format Mike and Kenny were in back to back races. After watching Mike fade to a 7th place finish Derrik made some last minute adjustments to Kenny's car. Kenny was battling for the transfer spot with two different drivers for most of the race. In the last corner he left the bottom open, and after contact with two different cars he spun across the finish line one spot short.
After a little bit of a disappointing trip Mike and Kenny are ready to begin their local season at Tularosa New Mexico in February, and also try and make a few more trips back to Oklahoma to gain more experience.
