Inside Line Promotions – SAUK RAPIDS, Minn. (June 21, 2017) – Jason Sides produced his career-best result at Granite City Speedway on Tuesday evening with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.
Sides opened the event by qualifying second quickest. He then placed second in a heat race to lock into the dash.
“It was a pretty good start to the night,” he said. “The dash wasn’t all that. We tried some stuff in the dash and we weren’t that great so we changed it back for the feature.”
Sides placed sixth in the dash after starting on the inside of the third row. That lined him up sixth in the main event, in which he battled for a top five before posting a seventh-place result. It was his second straight top 10 at the track.
“We stayed on the bottom too long,” he said. “Once some of that fuel came off I went to the top and we weren’t bad at all.”
Sides also competed last Friday at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D., where he timed in ninth quickest in his group before finishing where he started – fifth – in a heat race. That locked him into the 18th starting position in the main event.
“We had a long rain delay early in the feature and the track was locked down when we resumed,” he said. “It was heavy and fast. There wasn’t much passing. There were some wrecks and we gained some spots that way.”
Sides advanced from 18th to an 11th-place finish.
Last Saturday’s race at Red River Valley Speedway in Fargo, N.D., was postponed to August because of inclement weather.
Sides is slated to make his debut at West Liberty Raceway in West Liberty, Iowa, this Friday before venturing to Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, Wis., on Saturday with the World of Outlaws.
