Inside Line Promotions – HIGHLANDS, Texas (June 20, 2017) – Brandon Hanks recorded a pair of top-10 finishes last weekend during an ASCS Gulf South Region doubleheader in Texas.

“We decided at the last minute to load up and head to Texas,” he said. “When we pulled up to Bronco Raceway Park (in Cleveland, Texas) on Friday the water truck wouldn’t run and they hadn’t watered the track. It didn’t look good at all. We were throwing up dust in hot laps. It was so bad you couldn’t see who was in front of you.”

Hanks drew the pole position for a heat race, but dropped to a third-place result thanks to the track conditions.

“That was the worst place you could have started,” he said. “There was nothing to get a hold of. I got beat going into turn one and then both myself and the leader hit something slick and slid up. I got passed for second so I ended up third.”

That lined Hanks up on the outside of the sixth row for the main event.

“We worked our way up to fourth and as I passing for fourth the caution came out,” he said. “I had passed two cars right before the caution. They put me back to sixth for the restart since we didn’t complete a lap. After the restart I was passing for fifth when I got tight on the cushion and about ate the wall. Mike Miller went by me and I ended up seventh.”

The weekend wrapped up on Saturday at Battleground Speedway, where Hanks maneuvered from sixth to third place in a heat race.

“I thought for sure we’d be in the redraw,” he said. “I guess there was enough passing and I was in the last heat so that hurt me. I started ninth and again we were really fast, but started too far behind. We made our way through there. We were catching traffic. The race was around the bottom. You could run a little off it in turns one and two.”

Hanks battled for a top five at the end of the race before he was credited with a sixth-place result, which was his fifth top 10 of the season.
