Inside Line Promotions – MOBERLY, Mo. (June 20, 2017) – Josh Baughman is taking the next two weeks off to regroup following a frustrating end to the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour’s Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek.

“We are taking a break,” he said. “My luck has been terrible. Everything we do seems to go backwards. We’re going to take a step back, regroup and come back excited to race.”

Baughman was hampered by a high pill draw last Thursday at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla., where the fourth round of the Speedweek was held.

“We drew at the back of a heat race on a locked down track,” he said. “We were a product of a pill draw on a heavy race track.”

Baughman placed fifth in a heat race and third in a B Main to transfer into the back of the main event. He picked up a handful of positions to finish 17th.

Baughman was on pace for a top-10 finish the following night at Randolph County Raceway, where he finished third in a heat race and started the main event 13th.

“We were running around 10th about 10 laps in when we broke an axle,” he said. “We’ve had a lot of that kind of luck lately and we’re going to start hating racing so we’re taking some time off.”

Baughman, who finished 23rd, said the team will focus on getting ready for the 360 and 410 Knoxville Nationals once they return to action early next month.
