Inside Line Promotions – ORRVILLE, Ohio (June 20, 2017) – Rob Chaney steered the CH Motorsports No. 83 to a fifth-place feature finish on Monday night during the Ohio Sprint Speedweek presented by Cometic Gasket race at Wayne County Speedway.
Chaney’s solid run came among a field of 57 drivers at the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions event.
Chaney qualified 17th quickest overall and fourth in his group, placing him on the pole for a heat race. He made the most of his starting position by leading start-to-finish for the win over Tim Shaffer, Kasey Kahne and Rico Abreu. Chaney’s victory advanced him into the dash, which determined the starting position for the inside line of the night’s main event. He started and finished fifth in the four-lap race.
Chaney lined up ninth in the A Main and was able to advance to fifth despite a brake problem.
“We were pretty good the entire night,” he said. “This was one of the toughest fields we’ve seen this year. We had an issue with the brakes in the feature, which may have kept us from a better finish. But all in all, it was a solid night for us.
“I think it’s really cool when Kyle Larson and Kasey Kahne race with us. It obviously makes it tougher for us because they’re the best. But I think it gives our sport a lot of credibility and respect.”
Next up on the racing schedule for Chaney and CH Motorsports will be another All Star Speedweek race this Friday at Limaland Motorsports Park in Lima, Ohio.
