Inside Line Promotions – LINCOLN, Ill. (June 13, 2017) – Brandon Hanks produced his career-best Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions result last Friday at Lincoln Fairgrounds, where he scored a seventh-place finish during his debut.

“It just confirms how I was feeling about 410 racing,” he said. “I really started to feel confident that I could do it and then Friday night built more confidence, running with the All Stars and running that well.”

However, the night didn’t start as well as it ended.

“I had a bad oil leak in hot laps,” he said. “We had the hood off and found the valve cover came loose. Before I could get the hood on they were calling us to qualify. I missed my spot and had to go out a couple of spots back. So things were frantic early. I was a little worried how the night was going.”

Hanks timed in sixth quickest in his group, which missed the heat race inversion by two positions and lined him up on the outside of the third row in a heat race.

“We were bad tight in qualifying and that hurt us,” he said. “Going out early hurt us as well because it was a lot faster later.

“We had the car so much better for the heat race. We jumped from sixth to third pretty fast. I think we were a little faster than the second-place guy, but I couldn’t quite get to him enough to slide him.”

Hanks placed third to miss locking into the dash by only one position. It lined him up on the inside of the sixth row for the main event.

“It was kind of tough to pass because everybody did the same thing,” he said. “It was around the top in turns one and two. You couldn’t get a good enough shot to get by someone. You just had to be patient and work your way around them. It was a lot of fun. We worked our way forward and got to pass my childhood hero (Tony Stewart). That pretty much topped it off. I’m sure he wasn’t happy about it, but I was very happy about it.”

Hanks maneuvered to a seventh-place result and was close to a top five.

“The top seven weren’t that far apart,” he said. “We were all right there. I could see the leader at the end of the race. It was about who made a mistake and got through traffic the best. It was a great result for our team. Seventh with the All Stars felt like a win.”
