Inside Line Promotions – MARION, Ark. (June 13, 2017) – Derek Hagar wants to three-peat at the Hooker Hood Classic, which will be held this Saturday at Riverside International Speedway.
Hagar has captured the marquee event at the bullring in West Memphis, Ark., the past two years.
“This race ranks up there pretty high,” he said. “There’s a lot of history around this area with Hooker Hood. We’ve won the last two Hooker Hood Classics so it’d be nice to get three in a row.”
Hagar said he plans on wearing his throwback drivers suit, which he’s worn during the event the past two times.
“It was pretty cool because the first time I wore it was for the Hooker Hood Classic in 2015,” he said. “It felt special to win a Hooker Hood Classic in a throwback suit. I wore it last year and we won so I think I better keep wearing it.”
Hagar has multiple wins at the quarter-mile track during each of the last three seasons.
“I’m pretty confident,” he said. “It’ll be the first time we’ve gotten to race at Riverside all year long. I’m looking forward to putting on a good show for all the fans who show up.”
