Inside Line Promotions – ELMA, Wash. (June 7, 2017) – Trey Starks had an eventful evening at Grays Harbor Raceway last Saturday during a Summer Thunder Sprint Series event.

Starks, who was driving for Doug Rutz, endured a mechanical problem during hot laps.

“The engine wasn’t going to be able to finish the night so fortunately my brother, Collin, was on his way to the track,” Starks said. “We called him and he turned around, went back to the shop and picked up another engine to bring to the track.”

Starks missed qualifying and his heat race and therefore started at the back of the main event.

“We got it in the car on time, but everything wasn’t as put together as you’d like,” he said. “It ran and we got to race, but it was a tough night.”

Starks rallied from his 20th starting position into the top 10 before a late-race miscue cost him a couple of positions and he ended 11th.

“Those nights happen in racing from time to time,” he said. “I’m grateful Doug gave me an opportunity to race and that nobody gave up. Hopefully the next time out it’ll go a little smoother.”
