Blurton Scores Podium to Start Busy Month of Racing

Inside Line Promotions – EAGLE, Neb. (June 6, 2017) – Zach Blurton’s 2017 racing season will kick into overdrive this month and fortunately he is riding a wave of momentum.

Last Saturday Blurton came close to picking up his second win of the season at Eagle Raceway.

“In my heat, because it was based on average points and the last time I was there I had mechanical issues, I started fourth and got a bad start and fell back to sixth,” he said. “I was able to get going and finished third, which put us in the invert for the feature.”

Blurton jumped out to a sizeable lead after drawing the pole position for the main event.

“I led the first 13 laps before a caution came out,” he said. “My dad said I had a straight-away lead. I led a few more laps after the restart then someone got around me on the top and another in the middle. I figured out the topside took rubber and once I got there I was okay. The track started out slick, but I didn’t think it would take rubber. It took me by surprise.”

Blurton placed third, which marked his fourth top five of the season.

He will return to Eagle Raceway this Saturday followed by another show at Eagle Raceway on June 13 when he will compete in a support class during the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series event.

From there Blurton heads to Dodge City Raceway Park in Dodge City, Kan., for the Lewis Automotive DCRP Sprint Car Nationals on June 16-17.
“They are paying $3,000 to win those events so it will draw all of the top regional drivers,” he said.

The following Thursday, June 22, Blurton will compete at U.S. 30 Speedway in Columbus, Neb., where he has won in recent years. The next night he is off to Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore, Okla.

“The next two months will be crazy, but I wouldn’t want it any other way,” he said.
