Inside Line Promotions – FULTON, N.Y. (June 6, 2017) – Joe Trenca wants to put last weekend behind him.
The action began for the Mucci Motorsports team on Friday at Ransomville Speedway in Ransomville, N.Y., where Trenca ended fifth in a heat race. That lined him up on the outside of the eighth row for the Patriot Sprint Tour main event.
“We were up to about 11th when a guy got into me and we started flipping real bad,” he said. “It was just a racing deal, but it tore up the car.”
Trenca was credited with a 15th-place result and the team was forced to pull the backup car down for Saturday’s Patriot Sprint Tour show at Fulton Speedway.
“It was a struggle all night,” he said. “We didn’t get to use the shocks we wanted since they were damaged in the crash the previous night and we drew bad for the heat so we started at the back. It just wasn’t our night.”
Trenca advanced from eighth to seventh place in a heat race before he won the B Main after starting fourth. That lined him up 21st for the main event.
“We were rolling good,” he said. “We were up to 11th and had a caution about 11 laps in. The tires sealed over and we faded during the second half of the race. If we didn’t have that caution I think we had a top 10.”
Trenca held on for an 18th-place finish.
The team will be off this weekend as it builds a new car before resuming Patriot Sprint Tour competition on June 16 at Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, N.Y., and June 17 at Selinsgrove Speedway in Selinsgrove, Pa.
