ASCS Gulf South On Track For A Texas Double

TULSA, Okla. (May 31, 2017) The Griffith Truck and Equipment ASCS Gulf South Region returns to competition this Friday and Saturday with the series return to Heart O’ Texas Speedway in Waco, followed by the season’s only trip to Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige.

Going into the weekend double, Ray Allen Kulhanek continues to hold point on the series with a 116 point advantage over Zane Lawrence. Garnering his first ASCS victory of 2017 this past weekend at RPM Speedway, Kulhanek has placed his No. 21t on the podium four times in his season leading five top-five finishes. Dustin Gates of Haughton, La. rides third in tour standings with Jacob Lucas and Tommy Brant making up the top-five.

Round two of three at Heart O’ Texas Speedway in 2017, the May 2 outing saw Michael Lang earn his second career ASCS regional victory ahead of Tommy Bryant. Getting a boost in the payout thanks to Waco Metals, Friday’s winner will walk away with $2,500 with other money added to both second and third. Upping that to $3,000 to win on Saturday, Cotton Bowl Speedway last saw competition with the Gulf South Region on July 23, 2016 with Channin Tankersley picking up the win.

Friday, June 2 at Heart O’ Texas Speedway gets underway at 8:00 P.M. (CDT) and includes IMCA Modified, IMCA Stock Car, IMCA Southern Sport Mod, IMCA Hobby Stock, and Factory Stocks. Admission is $12 for adults with kids five and under getting into the grandstands for free. Getting the action going at 7:00 P.M. (CDT) with admission set at $15 for adults with discounts for Military, Seniors, and Youth. Kids five and under get in free. The lineup of racing includes IMCA Modifieds, Sport Mods, Stock Cars, DCRST Dwarf Cars, NeSmith Street Stocks, and CBS Stock Cars in addition to the Gulf South Region.
