Taylor Gains Valuable Experience Throughout 2nd annual Midget Round Up

Inside Line Promotions – GARDEN CITY, Kan. (May 31, 2017) – Zac Taylor gained valuable experience last weekend that will pay big dividends in the weeks to come as he looks to put Todd Henry’s midget in Victory Lane.

Taylor competed in the 2nd annual Midget Round Up last Saturday and Sunday at Airport Raceway, where the event pitted the teams of the Rocky Mountain Midget Racing Association against the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget Series.

On Saturday a bobble in his heat race put Taylor in the B Main and before it could be concluded the skies opened up, postponing the finish to Sunday prior to the event finale.

“In the heat I was up to fourth and I tried to make a pass and got sideways and spun and went to the back and got back to fifth,” he said. “On Sunday for the make-up B Main I was just too tight.”

Taylor placed sixth to narrowly miss transferring into the main event.

Following an intermission between the make-up event and Sunday’s full program, Taylor struggled in his heat race. He ended sixth, but rebounded to charge from seventh to a second-place finish in the B Main to earn a transfer into the back of the main event.

“I was going forward in the A and was up to 10th when we had a red,” he said. “The car was shaking bad and I thought I had bent the rear axle so I pulled off. We found it was just a bent wheel.

“It was a really fun weekend. Todd had the car perfect to run up top. I pulled the front wheels off the ground … I could feel the rear bumper dragging the ground. I’ve never experienced that before. I can’t wait to get back out there.”

Taylor, who was credited with a 16th-place result, is scheduled to return to action this Saturday at I-76 Raceway in Fort Morgan, Colo., with the RMMRA.
