Inside Line Promotions – HIGHLANDS, Texas (May 23, 2017) – Channin Tankersley is venturing to Texas this weekend when he will pilot a sprint car for Bruce Griffith during an ASCS Gulf South Region tripleheader.
The 15th annual Memorial Day Classic action begins on Friday at RPM Speedway in Crandall.
“We raced there one time a few years ago,” he said. “I don’t remember how we did it’s been so long. The only thing I remember was that track was so slick you couldn’t get a hold of anything.”
Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite hosts Round 2 on Saturday. Tankersley posted a top-10 finish at the track for three consecutive years before last year’s best result of 20th.
“I have mixed emotions about that place,” he said. “We’re either really good or we’re off. I’m hoping to have a good showing this weekend.”
The weekend concludes on Sunday at Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore. Tankersley recorded a career-best third-place finish at the high-banked track last season.
“I like the place a lot,” he said. “I always have pretty good speed there and coming off a podium the last time out there gives us added confidence.”
Tankersley also has momentum from his most recent race this season when he picked up a season-best third-place result.
“We want to win,” he said. “I think we are capable of competing for the win each night this weekend so hopefully we can pick one or two or three off.”
