Knowing we only held our point lead by 24 didn't take any pressure away from the UnWired/ Economy Tooling 23jr team and Sodeman Jr. himself. Without a heat race if the current team in second place, D4 Danny Holtgraver, were to win we would have to secure 7th or better to be crowned the champion.
Because there were no heat races, the top ten drivers in each division lined up in front of the grandstands and chose frisbees that contained the number of their starting spot. The order was from 10th to 1st in points, by the end only two numbers remained 3rd and 8th. Holtgraver picked and secured his 8th position to start the A-Main, which left us with the third starting spot.
At the drop of the green the battle for 1st and 2nd would hold Sodeman in the 3rd spot. A restart brought out by caution would run in favor for the 23jr as the leader almost spun himself coming through turn one and two, he would fall back and the 2nd place runner and Sodeman would take the front of the field. By lap seven Sodeman had enough room on his higher line to get by and take the lead. Sodeman would keep his position for the remainder of the 30 lap feature to taste victory for the third time at the speedway this year.
With his 1st place finish, Sodeman also secured his crown as the 2009 Sharon Speedway Points Champion!
